The Saipan Tribune | Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Reporter | July 2008 to May 2009 I covered the Legislature, the Governors Office, the Public School System and the utilities corporation for the daily paper. I wrote extensively on the island's ongoing power crisis and the Northern Marianas' transition to federal immigration and labor laws. I traveled to Samoa to cover a climate change roundtable and to China to report on tourism attractions. Divided Families | Arizona State University Reporter | August 2007 to December 2007 I traveled to the Arizona-Mexico border, Guadalajara and Veracruz to report and write two indepth pieces on families divided by the border. The Howard G. Buffet Foundation funded the project, which was awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award in the college print category.
