Tram Ub General Program Characteristics Trilam is intended to be used, 1 for the analysis or design of Liber reinforced thermoset plastic laminates. Its sufficiently general to handle all types of layered orthrotropic and isotropic ‘materials with or without core materials. The preftx ‘TRI’ in Trilam implies that the program includes analysis in the three principle directions of a laminate, the third direction being through the thickness. Operation of the program consists basically of the user defining each layer of the laminate in sequence. The program then calculates the properties of the laminate. Several loading options allow the user to apply combinations of loads to the laminate as a Jlat plate or as a cylinder. The program then calculates the ‘tresses or strains as requested by the user and the strength ratios Jor each layer. The maximum number of layers that can be entered is 100. The units can be switched between imperial and metric with the F9 key, which is active at all, times while the program is running. All input prompts indicate the appropriate units, Many of the options are selected by entering the option number or the first letter of the option key word. All single key entries do NOT require a returnlenter key to be used. Capital or small letters can be used at all Trilam prompts. Defautt Setup: From the initial screen, press FI to set the defaults. Angle brackets <> indicate the current default which is retained if the Enter key is pressed with no entry. The page header (e.g. Your company name) shown on the initial screen will appear at the top of each of the printed pages. The default drive and path for the data files (e.g. C\TRILAM\DATA) can be changed, if needed, to Page 1 of 2 Trilam I 7: . better suit the needs of the user. Entering I for imperial units or M for metric ‘Semp.tl' which is found on the roat directory of your C-Drive. If a New file is being created, then the program prompts for a filename. A return with no filename goes back to the initial ‘menu. The length of the filenames is limited to 8 characters. Ifa new file is created with the same name as an existing file, a warning message is displayed. If the options Edit, Output, or Delete are selected, then a highlight box is moved with the arrow keys to the desired file and the file is selected by pressing Enter. The Edit option is selected to make changes to an existing laminate construction. The Output option is selected to use the file with various output options. The Delete option is selected to delete @ file or several files from the data directory. When a file is selected for deletion, a second prompt asks for confirmation before the file is deleted. The F7 key is used to retrieve laminate files that have been copied to another disk or directory.
