CONCEPT

Quality of work life refers to the favourableness or unfavourableness of the job environment of an organisation for its employees .

DEFINITIONS

According to J. RICHARD J.LOY:

The degree to which members of a work organisation


are able to satisfy the important personnel needs through their experience in the organisation .

According to HARRISON: QWL is the degree to which work in an organisation contribute to material and psychological wll being of its members.

SPECIFIC ISSUES IN QWL

Managements claim that higher wages , more benefits and better facilities have resulted in improved quality of life . Trade unions , on the other hand, take responsibility for improvement in various facilities to workers . Besides higher wages and better facilities , there are more issues in QWL . KLOTT, MUNDICK AND SCHUSTER suggested 11 major issues in QWL.
