corresponding to Resource 3. Construct the corresponding simplex tableau. 2. Determine the status of each resource. 3. Determine the Dual LP model, and its optimal solution. 4. Determine the feasibility range of each resource. 5. Determine the optimality range of x1 and x2. 6. Determine the new optimal solution if the availability of Resource 2 is reduced to 350 units.
ToyCo manufactures three types of toys: trains (x1), trucks (x2) and cars (x3). The selling price of trains, trucks and cars are $3, $2 and $5, respectively. Each toy
requires three operations. A train requires 1, 3 and 1 units of Operations 1, 2 and 3, respectively. A truck requires 2 and 4 units of Operations 1 and 3, respectively. A car requires 1 and 2 units of Operations 1 and 2, respectively. There are up to 430 minutes available for Operation 1, up to 460 minutes available for Operation 2, and up to 420 minutes available for Operation 3. ToyCo would like to determine the optimal production scheme that will maximize their profit.
x2 x xB = 3 x6
associated with Operation 3. Construct the corresponding simplex tableau. 8. An external contractor is willing to assist with Operation 1 at a rate of $0.50 per minute. Should ToyCo accept this deal? Justify. 9. Suppose a fourth Operation has the following specifications: a train requires 4 minutes, a truck 1 minute and a car 2 minutes of Operation 4. Determine the optimum solution assuming the daily capacity is limited to (a) 570 minutes, and (b) 548 minutes. 10.ToyCo is considering to change the selling price of trains to $5 each due to a shift in market demands. Determine the optimal solution. 11.ToyCo would like to include fire trucks in its production line. Each fire truck would require 3, 2 and 4 minutes of Operations 1, 2 and 3, respectively. A fire truck would be sold at $9 each. Determine the resulting optimal solution.
