SPECIAL REPORT
of the Trustees for the period April 24-October 30, 2011
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The last one year has been a very challenglng one for each one of us. The world at
large, and particularly all the adherents to His teaching and message, were devastated
by the sudden physlcal departure of our founder Trustee Srl Sathya Sal 8aba on the
24
TH
of Aprll 20ll. Nothlng could ever have prepared us for what was ln store.
No words that are wrltten or spoken by anyone can completely assuage our grlef or
allay our apprehensions. But He did not leave without showing us the way forward.
His legacy of love, in the form of service in the various philanthropic institutions He
had personally set up and overseen, and the discipline which He infused in their daily
operation is now the path we must follow.
As the Pounder Trustee of these lnstltutlons, He has specled the role each one of us
must assume. Unstlntlng commltment and dedlcatlon to Hls mlsslon ls the only salve
that will steer us through the dicult times.
The 8oard of Trustees have thelr responslbllltles lald out clearly for them. 8aba, as the
Pounder Trustee, has been dlrectlng, advlslng and guldlng us all these years. Now, ln
Hls physlcal absence, the Trustees too need to act ln such a way that Hls message and
mission are carried forward.
Prlor to Aprll 20ll, there were only the ve Trustees, orlglnally nomlnated by
8hagawan ln March 20l0, vlz. 1ustlce P. N. 8hagwatl, Srl |ndulal Shah, Srl S. v. Glrl,
Srl v. Srlnlvasan and Srl P. 1. Patnakar. Later, wlth a vlew to broaden the base of the
8oard of Trustees, four more trustees - Srl K. Chakravartl, Srl S. S. Naganand, Srl T. K. K.
8hagavat, and Srl 1. v. Shetty - were co-opted to the 8oard.
Thls Annual Peport ls for the perlod Aprll lst 20l0 to March 3lst 20ll. Thls speclal
report places on record and hlghllghts some of the actlvltles of the Trust subsequent
to thls perlod as well. The transltlon from the era of contlnuous personal guldance
from the Pounder Trustee, to one of establlshlng systems and procedures, and
conformlng to that framework, called for a change ln the mental makeup and the
ablllty to respond qulckly to lssues for all concerned. The 8oard of Trustees recognlsed
that thls was essentlal ln order to renect greater transparency. |n keeplng wlth these
requlrements, the Trustees report the followlng slgnlcant declslons and actlons that
were taken ln the perlod between Aprll 20ll and October 20ll:

SRI SATHYA SAI CENTRAL TRUST (Medical Care
Division)
(Formerly called Sri Sathya Sai Medical Trust)
High quality medical care, in recent decades, has gone beyond the reach of the very
people who are most vulnerable to dlsease. The poor and economlcally challenged
are therefore reslgned to a reallty where they nelther have knowledge of preventlon
of disease nor access to medical care. It was with the aim of creating access to the best
of medical care for needy patients, completely free of charge, that Baba established
the Srl Sathya Sal Medlcal Trust on 9th September, l99l.
The Medlcal Trust managed the hospltals set up by 8aba up to 30th November, 20l0.

most of the pathologlcal and blo-chemlcal lnvestlgatlons. The presence of thls

Since the programme is outreach, a larger agenda was visualized as the driving
theme of this service based on a triangular approach consisting of, Curative thrust,
Preventive focus and Spiritual base.
The curatlve thrust owes lts strength to the presence of speclallsts belonglng to 9
speclaltles on any partlcular day namely, Padlology, Medlclne, Surgery, Orthopedlcs,
LNT, Dentlstry, Ophthalmology, Gynecology & Pedlatrlcs.

Sri Sathya Sai Village Integrated
Programme
The SSSv|P addresses the hollstlc needs of a vlllager
and thus, the vlllage. The key to thls ls the nurturlng of
the family unit as the foundation. It is structured on the

exacts, the SSSVIP addresses the concerns of the body,
the mind, the poverty-bruised emotions and defeated
spirits of these disadvantaged individuals.
Once a speclc vlllage ls ldentled, a baslc survey ls
