Jones purchased three lots in 1854 for $800.00 House sits on two lots, rear lot sold off after Jone s family moved in 1921. Third lot, the lot to the west was purchased at auction in 1871 for $1016.00. Sold by last Findlay Jones, Gertrude, sometime after 1944. Jone s family occupied cabin on the lot during construction; probable location of cabin was the rear lot. House is solid brick exterior and interior walls other than remodel ballroom. Approximately 100,000 bricks used in construction All dormer windows, upper roof, porch roofs had iron cresting ornamentation. Front porch and Porte Cochere added during Gas & Oil Boom. Rear structure was dismantled and saved by the railroad preservation group. It is believed to have been moved or built for E.P. has he brought to first railroad to Findlay.
