We use only one place to write the numbers 0, I, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, q. When numbers stand alone, they are in the ones place. We combine two digits I and 0 to write the number ten (10). We need two places to write the number 10. The '0' is written in the ones place. The' I' is written in the new place called the tens Plac~ '
