Abstract

Modern day embedded system encompasses huge variety of products from PDAs to Automobile ignition systems. As these products become increasingly complex, modular approach is used in both software and hardware development. In this report we focus on the role of RTOS in building the high performance systems. This is followed by detailed analysis of features provided by Cortex-M3 MCU which makes it possible to implement commercial operating systems. Finally the features of RTOS were tested by porting uC/OSII on Proteus VSIM Simulator for ARMv4 based MCU LPC2138 of NXP (ARMv4 is predecessor of Cortex-M3 or ARMv7).
