ENGINES IN SERVICE
Exhaust Gas Smoke

For an anniversary issue its not asking too much to skim through old documents. We found this information in table form in a nearly 50 years old operating instruction. The indications applied to 4-stroke engines and also to the m 2-stroke engines that were still built at that time. Large parts of the table are currently as up-todate as in former times proving that in spite of all progresses the basic principles of the diesel engine are still valid today. Although electronic aids are being used more and more a profound knowledge of the engine management is still being an indispensable prerequisite for a trouble-free engine operation.
