sports tourism event fires off this sponth as the
‘Cleanergy Philippine Hoble Challengesailsfrom
Lucena City to Boracay.
‘The sailing event, now on its 11th staging,
features 12 teams of local and international
sailors.
‘Organized by the Philippine Interisland
Salling Foundation (Phinsaf) and Aboitiz
Power, the 250-nauticalile race kicks off from
Dalahican Beach in Lucena City to Sta, Cruzin
Marindugue, followed the next day by a short
run to Byenavista town.
Participants cross Romblon on February 16,
followed bya series ofinshoreracesat Romblon
Bay the next day. Adventure racing reaches
Its peak on the penultimate leg to Cadijocan,
Sibuyan Island, on February 18, The last sector

Cleanergy Phil Hobie Challenge sets sail
Now on its 44th staging, the sailing event is organized by the Philippine Inter Isiand Salling Foundation (Phinsaf) and
‘Aboitz Power, the Challenge will see 12 teams of the best locel and International sailors compete in one of Asia-Pacifc's
top Hobie Cat regattas.
“The 250-neutiat mile race kicks off on Feb. 14 with the Para Kito Leg t from Blue Bay Waters Resort In Sariaya to
Maniwaya Tsland in Ste Cruz, Marinduque. This will be followed the next day by the short Blood Red Leg 2 to the world-class
BBellaraca Island Resort and Spa in Buenaviste.
Racers cross Romblon island on Feb. 16 for the Sd-neutical mile Hoble Australasia Leg 3, the longest leg of the tournament,
followed by the Shell inshore sertes at Romblon Bay the next day.
[Adventure racing reaches the penuitimate Mobile One Leg to Cajidiocan In Sibuyen island on Feb, 18. The last sector
‘culminates at the posh Shanari-La's Boracay Resort end Spa on Feb. 19 which will be concluded by 8 welcome and victory
party.
In between races, the sailors will éo community outreach work by donating useful materials to remote schoo!s in coastal
villages.
According to Phinsaf chair Monchu Garcia, the Hoble Challenge aims to promote ewareness on sailing as a clean way of
discovering the county's ich seas, beautful isionds and pristine beaches.
He added that by interacting with coastal communities, the group hopes to increase interest in sailing emong local
fishermen as a clean alternative to engines. He said that in pursuit of this goal, Phinsaf has partnered with Aboitiz Power
whose "Cleaneray" advocacy promotes alternative energy.
In this way, Garcia said that the Philippines will be pramoted as a top sports tourism and saling haven in the world,

resort island of Boracay on Feb. 14-19.

island Sailing Foundation and Aboitiz, Power.

competing in one of Asia-Pacific's most extreme Hobie Cat regattas.
‘The 250-nautical mile race kicks off on Feb. 14 with the Para’ Kito Leg 1 from
Blue Bay Waters Resort in Sariaya to Maniwaya Island in Sta Cruz,
Marinduque. This will be followed the next day by the fast-paced Blood Red
Leg 2 to the world-class Bellaroca Island Resort and Spa in Buenavista.
Racers sail to Romblon island on Feb. 16 for the 50-nautical mile Hobie
Australasia Leg 3, the longest leg of the tournament, followed by the Shell in-
shore series at Romblon Bay the next day.
