Similes: comparisons using LIKE or AS How do you know if it is a simile? 1.Are two or more things being compared? 2.Are the two things being compared/linked together by using like or as ? Turn to page 612 in your red Literature book.

Metaphors comparisons WITHOUT using like or as

HOW TO IDENTIFY METAPHORS: 1. Are two things being compared? 2. If so, does the sentence use like or as ? 3. If so, it is a simile. If not, it is a metaphor!
