Mya, as a sub-group of primates.




They had small brains, and were quadrupeds with flexible limbs. Had distinctive molar teeth. Orthograde posture. They also had large complex brains.

CHARACTERISTICS


Hominids evolved from hominoids and belonged to a family known as Hominidae, and around 5.6 Mya, the evidence of their of their existence was first found. Even though they evolved from hominoids and had common features, there were still major differences. They had small front teeth and very large molars. They had an upright posture bipedal locomotion. Also there were marked differences in the hand which enabled the making and use of tools. There was also an increase in the brain size.

CHARACTERISTICS


Can be dated back to 5.6 Mya. Had a low forehead. Possessed a bony ridge over the eyes, a flat nose and absolutely no chin. More human like teeth. Pelvis and leg bones resembled those of modern man. Females were smaller than males.

CHARACTERISTICS


Larger brain size, smaller teeth. Can be classified into three groups:HOMO HABILIS. HOMO ERECTUS. HOMO SAPIENS

Back teeth larger than the front.

Short with average male height 5 feet, and weight 100 pounds.

Capable of speech.

CHARACTERISTICS


13 to 17 meters tall. Human skeleton. Large brains.

CHARACTERISTICS


Ability to speak proper languages. Have developed thumbs, making it possible to make and use tools. A concept of religion developed among them. Ability to reason things.
