The Yeshasvini Cooperative Farmers Health Scheme, a micro insurance scheme intro duced by the Yeshasvini Trust in the

state of Karnataka in 2003 covered around 1 .6 million then. This grew to about 202 million by the second quarter of its ini tiation. This was possible through strong liaisons with the cooperative societie s and the Karnataka department of cooperation it maintained. This scheme was not affiliated to any of the insurance companies. This is solel y a self funded scheme. This scheme operates in different geographical areas. Th us the administration of the claims, authorization of the surgeries is outsource d to a third party, a profit oriented body corporate.
