Nature of Organizational Behaviour

 A separate field of study and not a discipline only:


- multi-interdisciplinary.

 An interdisciplinary approach:
- it integrates the knowledge drawn from psychology, sociology and

anthropology for the purpose of analyzing and studying OB.

 An applied science:

-the way how it applies researches to solve orgn problems related to human.
-pure science concentrates on fundamental research and OB on applied research. -OB involves both fundamental and applied researches, so it is both science as well as an art.

A normative science: -positive science cause effect relationship. -OB how findings are applied to socially accepted organizational goals.
-OB individual and society in orgn.

A humanistic and optimistic approach:


-people as thinking, feeling human-beings. -belief natural desire independent, creative and productive. -environment affects performance.

A total system approach:

-integrates all variables affecting organizational functioning. -developed by behavioural scientists analyze human behaviour socio-psychological framework. -makes him complex and tries to find solution for his\ her complexity.

Includes the study of individual, groups and organization\structure.

Individuals:
-differ in many respects. -includes aspects personality, perception, attitudes, values, job satisfaction, learning and motivation.

Groups:
-includes aspects group dynamics, group conflicts, communication, leadership, power and politics etc.

Organizations\ structure:
-includes aspects formation of organizational structure, culture and change and development.
