Basic Competency: Responding to the meaning and rhetorical step of written essay text accurately, fluently, and acceptable in the form of analytical exposition in the daily life context and accessing knowledge
Indicators:
identify the meaning of words of the text being read identify the complication of a story identify the events of a story identify the setting of a story
Analytical Exposition
An important part of analytical exposition is the analysis of the text or issues. In this type of text, the writer tries to convince the readers to agree with the writers point of view.
Communicative purpose:
to persuade by presenting arguments to persuade the reader that something is the case
Generic Structure:
Thesis Introduces topic and indicates the writers position. The writer also outlines the main arguments to be presented Argument Shows a series of arguments that support the thesis Reiteration In this stage, the writer restates his/her point of view
Simple present tense example: In my opinion elementary school teacher works hard. English is the worlds most important language. Connectors * to mention several parts of arguments First, Secondly, Finally, First, Second, also moreover furthermore etc. * to summarize or conclude the points Summarizing Concluding In short, In conclusion, In a word, On the whole, In brief, Altogether, To sum up, In all, etc.
Emotive words e.g.: It is a deadly weapon. He looks very handsome. Evaluative language e.g.: It is obvious that . It is true that . Theres no doubt that . Modal verbs e.g. : You should tell you mother. It cant be true. He must see the doctor regularly.
