Unit Project CONTEMPORARY OPPRESSION OF FREEDOMS For this project each student must focus on a group or culture of people

that is experiencing modern day oppression of their freedoms. Preferably students should pick something that they feel strongly about or that personally affects them. Examples: - the LGBT community - Women - student s rights - modern racism et Each student will research their group of choice and do a 4-5 minute presentation on what they have learned. Presentations can be in the form of, but are not limited to posters, PowerPoint, a brochure, movie, etc. Questions that should be answered throughout the presentation include, - Who is doing the oppressing? (is it the governments fault, the community, etc) - What specific freedoms are not being allowed? - Has anything been done to challenge this oppression? Have strides been made? - What else can be done in the future? Use at least 3 sources to answer these questions A one page reflection on what has been learned should be turned in at the time of the presentation. A bibliography of the sources using MLA format must be attached. BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN!! DUE DATE : ALL DUE NEXT WEDNESDAY REGARDLESS IF YOU ARE PRESENTING OR NOT
