Ontario Municipal Board Environment and Land Tribunals Ontario


The Government of Ontario seeks members (two positions) for the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) with cross-appointment to other Environment and Land Tribunals Ontario (ELTO) constituent tribunals such as the Environmental Review Tribunal or the Assessment Review Board. The OMB hears applications and appeals in relation to a range of municipal planning, financial and land matters including official plans, zoning by-laws, subdivision plans, consents, minor variances, land compensation, development charges, electoral ward boundaries, municipal finance, aggregate resources and other issues assigned to the Board by numerous Ontario statutes. As a member, you will be responsible for adjudicating and mediating disputes under applicable legislation, policies and rules, using a variety of dispute resolution methods. ELTOs mandate, mission, core values and governance and accountability documents provide the framework of the cluster and apply to members. Members should have the qualifications set out in the position description for ELTO Members on the website: www.elto.gov.on.ca ELTO has a particular need for members with knowledge and experience in municipal law, land use planning, administrative law, environmental law and science, heritage, municipal finance and tax assessment. Term: Appointment is by Order-in-Council for a two-year term, subject to renewals for a maximum of 10 years.
