Health Implications
Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB), caused by the contraction of Myobacterium tuberculosis or Koch s bacillus communicable disease usually spread via airborne transmission and exposure to the bodily fluids of an infected individual

Health Implications: Individual Health


Treatment, when strictly adhered to, lasts six months. If not attended to properly by avoiding treatment, PTB may cause death
Long-term ailments are not acquired after recovery from PTB. it is either one is totally cured of PTB or one dies from it.

Health Implications: Public Health


Over the years, Myobacterium tuberculosis or Koch s bacillus has developed into being able to resist the current tuberculosis drugs due to a poor regimen or the patient s inability to comply with the treatment. Congested areas are promising breeding grounds for the disease.

Impact of TB on a given Health System: Health Financing


The prevention/treatment of TB needs to be funded, with proper allocation of budget from the government. The expenditure include:
human resource (professionals and Health Workers) drugs social insurance awareness campaign

According to WHO, almost 1/3 of the world population is infected with TB bacillus. There is also a need for much more external funding, like coming from NGOs and other private sectors
