Module 11-6 Design of a Wormgear Pair to Find the Lead Angle

This module solves the transcendental equation to determine the lead angle and pitch diameters.

F 2 Pdn C 1 ! sin P cos P N2

Given the following information:
C= P dn = N1 = N2 = 8.0 4 4 48 in teeth/in teeth teeth Center distance between shafts Normal diametral pitch Number of teeth on pinion Number of teeth on gear

The results found are: F! 0.0833 Tooth ratio (N 1 /N 2 ) P! #VALUE! degrees Lead angle
d1 = #VALUE! in Pitch diameter of the worm d2 = #VALUE! in Pitch diameter of the gear Note: Not all combinations of input provide usable answers. #VALUE!
Note: This module has an embedded Visual Basic function to compute the values. It was developed using Microsoft Excel and may not work with other spreadsheet programs.
