Affordability
CFL lamps cost 815 times more than GLS This is down from 20-25 times only 2 years ago Further cost reductions shall accrue with : - Volume growth - Concessional sales tax (VAT) of 4% - Lower component customs duties (special glass, Triband fluorescent powder, electronic circuits) - Lower excise duties
MANUFACTURERS HAVE ALREADY REDUCED PRICE OF CFL OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS AND CAN MAKE THE LAMPS MORE AFFORDABLE WITH GOVT. SUPPORT

Performance
CHEAP CFL FROM CHINA HAD RUINED THE MARKET AND CUSTOMER HAD LOST CONFIDENCE IN CFL The BIS standard is now in place and specifies the performance criteria Standards have been made mandatory to be effective 18 months from 24th August 2005 Many local manufacturers have BIS approvals for the CFL lamps Performance guarantees offered by manufacturers. Labeling Program initiated by Bureau of Energy Efficiency
THE MANDATORY BIS MARKING AND ENERGY LABELLING WILL BUILD CONSUMER CONFIDENCE
