IRRI moisture tester, where can I buy the analog version?

Question: I have seen another IRRI moisture tester with an analog display, where can I buy this?
The first IRRI moisture tester had an analog display. We do not support this anymore although one manufacturers is still selling units. The disadvantage is that the display is very sensitive and can be damaged if the device is dropped or exposed to impact. This moisture tester can be purchased at the manufacturer at own risk: Trisense Electronics c/o Jasmine Aquino B1 L9 Makiling Heights, Lalakay, Los Baos, Laguna Mobile Phone No.: +639195378233 E-mail: trisensephil@yahoo.com

IRRI moisture tester suitable for research?

Question: Can I use the IRRI moisture tester for research?

Answer: It depends on what kind of research. A. To do some research on the usability, adoptoin of the low-cost moisture meter by farmers and potential benefits? The answer is yes.

B. Too quantify moisture content of rice samples that are used in the research research? The moisture meter is not suitable for your research. It is designed as a simple decision making tool and displays the information in ranges, not in numbers. It has a range for "safe storage MC for seeds" (>12%), for "safe storage MC for grain" (12-14%) and a 'wet' or 'need to dry' range (14% -16%). It also only covers the range from 11%-16%, which is sufficient for making decisions regarding whether storage is safe. By limiting the range the IRRI moisture meter could be kept simple and thus affordable. It is intended to guide farmers in their postharvest decision making and not suitable for trade or for research. If you want to use it for research you need to buy a more expensive, calibrated and temperature compensated unit.
