VRL Logistics awarded Apollo Fleet of the Year

Inanawardceremony,heldlatelastevening,SatishSharma,Chief,IndiaOperations,ApolloTyresLtd,gave awaythetrophyforApolloFleetoftheYeartoVRLLogisticsinLargeOperatorandSanghaFreightCarrierin MediumOperatorcategory.Forthe1steditionofApolloFleetoftheYearawards,theorganisationreceivedan overwhelmingresponsefromover5140validentriesfromfleetoperatorsacrossIndia.Thecompletelistof winnersisattachedattheend. ApolloFleetoftheYearawardsgivesimportancetoinitiativestakenbyfleetoperatorstowardsSafety, Technology,SustainabilityandCustomerService,unlikeotherawardsinthegenre,whichplacesizeandscaleof operationsaboveinstitutionalleadershipfactors. VRLLogisticsbasedoutofHubli,Karnatakainthesouthernpartofthecountry,withafleetsizeof3000+vehicles, hasarecord98%customercomplaintresolution.Ithasconductedaround550safetytrainingsresultinginlower accidentspertruck.Theseprovedtobethecriticaldecidingfactorsforthejudgesandvalidatingagencyin awardingVRLasIndiasFleetoftheYear.WhatalsowentinVRLsfavourwasthelevelofradialisation,ahigh 60%,incomparisonto20%incommercialvehiclesinIndia. SpeakingontheoccasionSatishSharma,Chief,IndiaOperations,ApolloTyresLtdsaid,Theseawardsare ApollosrecognitionofthebestpracticesthatexistwithintheIndiancommercialtransportationsegment.Itisa muchmoreprogressiveandmodernsectoroftheeconomythanitgetsrecognitionfor.Wehavefoundthatavast majorityoftheoperatorsconductsafetytrainingsfortheirdrivers,fitters,mechanicsandemployees,resultingin lesserroadaccidents.TheothersurprisingareawasthehighvalueputonGPSusage,technologydeploymentand fuelsaving.Ithinkweareliterallywitnessingasilentrevolutioninthissegment,andfleetoperatorslargeor smallshouldbelaudedforit. LeadershipinSafetyhasbeenevaluatedonthebasisofthenumberofsafetytrainingprogrammesconducted, alongwiththerateofaccidentpervehicleandtheinsuranceclaimed.MMRoadwaysfromChennai,TamilNadu wontheLeadershipinSafetyawardinthelargefleetoperatorcategoryforhavingconductedmorethan200 safetytrainings,asaresultofwhichtherewasonly0.10accident/truck.Similarly,SriBalajiTransportfrom Chennaiwontheawardinthemediumcategoryforhavinga0.04accident/truckinthepast12months. LeadershipinTechnologyandSustainabilitytakesintoaccountthelevelofradialisationandthefleetageboth translateintolowerspendsonfuelandmaintenance;alongwithinvestmentsintechnologydeploymentinvehicle trackingtoimproveoncustomerservice,costandsafetyparameters.Alloftheseelementsarecriticalinthelong termsuccessofoperators,inanincreasinglytechnologicalworld.ABTLtdfromCoimbatore,TamilNaduwith 100%ofitsfleetconnectedwithGPSreceivedthehonourinthelargecategoryoffleets,whileMadanshreeBulk Carrier,fromIndore,MadhyaPradesh,with80%radialisationand43%ofitsvehiclesconnectedwithGPS, receiveditinthemediumfleetcategory. InLeadershipinCustomerService,thenumberofcustomercomplaintsresolvedwastrackedalongwithgrowth inthecustomerbase,thenumberofofficesandnonvehicularstaff,allofwhichhelpanoperatorprovidebetter servicetocustomers.DARCLLogisticsbasedoutofGurgaon,Haryanawitha100%complaintresolutionrecord wontheLeadershipinCustomerServiceawardinthelargeoperatorcategory,andNewRaipurRoadways,

Bilaspur,withlargeandgrowingcustomerbaseandhavingresolved78%ofthecustomercomplaintssuccessfully, woninthemediumcategory. LeadershipinOperationswasevaluatedonthebasisofgrowthinfleetsizeinthelastyearandthecompounded revenuegrowthinlast2years.So,VRLLogistics,Gurgaon,inthelargefleetoperatorcategory,RRLogistics, Indore,inthemediumandSRSTravelsinthepassengercarriercategorywon,basedonthegrowthintheirfleet sizeinlast2years.The3witnessedgrowthrangingfrom12to28%between2010and11.
