He believed in advaita. No-difference between god and the devotee and thought the glorification of the saints or devotees of the god is equally meritorious like singing the praise of the lord. Mahipathi was aware of the facts that, under the physical, mental and temperamental differences of these saints, there is absolutely no distinction, among the saints in the quality of their mystical or intuitive realization of god. This awareness of the internal oneness of all saints is the sine quo non of the vitthala cult. As ramadasa says though saints appear different (outwardly), they are one (internally) due to their oneness with God.
