DEFINITION
A COLLECTIVE NOUN is the naming of the word for a group or collection of people, animals or things.

SENTENCES
A fleet of buses took the students to the school. A troupe of dancers performed at the cultural night. A school of whales swam along the coast. A gang of thieves broke into Rossa s house and stole her jewellery. There is a herd of wild elephants living in this area.

DEFINITION
A COMPOUND NOUNS are made up of two (or more) words used together. They can put in three ways:
Closed form compound nouns
Two words joined together (commonly-used)

Hyphenated form compound nouns


Two words joined with a hyphen (-) (most often)

Open form compound nouns


Two separate words (less commonly-used)

How compound nouns are made up


Noun + noun
Bed + room = bedroom Motor car, cupboard, weekend, eyelashes .

Adjective + noun
Blue+whale= blue whale free ride, grandmother, fast food, ..

SENTENCES
