    New Policy for Clearance of Power Projects


    A broad policy framework is being made ready for clearance of power projects in the country, especially with respect to those in the ecologically sensitive locations. This was assured to a delegation by the Union Environment Minister, Ms.Jayanthi Natarajan, according to a recent news report. The Minister gave the assurance to a group of power company CEOs who had meet her with regard to getting environmental clearance for power projects, said a news report in The Pioneer. There have been several instances of power projects getting delayed on account of them not getting the necessary green signal. The delegation of CEOs consisted of among others, Anil Aggarwal , Vedanta Group Chairman and Anil Ambani , Chairman Reliance Power. The government has been taking steps in order to address the delicate power situation in the country in recent times, through initiatives intended to speed up power projects.
