1. State perfect gas law and explain universal gas constant in

thermodynamics. List the limitations of perfect gas law.

The diameter increases to 0.55 m. in a reversible process during which pressure is proportional to diameter. Determine the work done by the air in the balloon during this process. 10. Explain adiabatic, isothermal and polytropic processes. Derive an expression for pdv work done during a reversible polytropic process. 11. Derive an expression for the air standard efficiency of a Diesel cycle. 12. 2 kg. of an ideal gas occupies a volume of m3 at 10 bar pressure and 500 K temperature. When this gas expands poly tropically (PV1.2 = C), The internal energy decreases by 300kJ, Presuming adiabatic exponent = 1.4, Determine. (i) Specific gas constant. (ii) Final temperature and pressure of the gas. (iii) Heat and work inter actions across the system boundary.

14. 2 kg. of air occupies 1.5 m3 at 700 kPa. Its temperature becomes 600 K

when it undergoes a reversible non flow constant pressure process? Evaluate (i) work done during the process; (ii) Final volume; (iii) Initial temperature. Also show the process on P-V Co-ordinate. Take R = 0.287 kJ/kg. K. 15. Derive the expressions for work done in a Isothermal process Poly tropic process.

16. Explain the Carnot-cycle and give its significance. Obtain an expression

for the efficiency of the Carnot cycle.
