Conclusion

The issues of all these struggles need to be elaborately documented to understand the larger politics of development that has been evolving after India s independence. Paradoxically, the written word becomes history. The myriad accounts by various professionals, journalists and some participant researchers make it necessary to communicate the basic facts and analysis of the processes within the movement by those involved in it, and who consider themselves responsible for its outcome. This may help a clearer and more authentic picture to emerge. Almost all movements in India have felt this need: to present their issues and struggles in a comprehensive and honest way. They deserve an understanding of their efforts in a complex context and on the larger canvas in which they have been operating. This calls for the organic intellectuals to reclaim lost ground for the sake of present-day struggles and the future politics of Alternative development. It is also pertinent in the emerging dominant political culture of Globalization of capital and increasing trivialization of the people s struggle.
