We will continue hearing the stories of Jesus and learning how they apply to our lives today.

Next week, we will talk about how we can keep our focus on Jesus at school!

Jesus told this story: A man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited that everything was ready. But they began to make excuses. One person said he needed to take care of his new field. One person said he needed to try out his oxen. Another one said that he had just been married so he couldnt come. The servant came back and told his master what he had heard. The owner of the house then ordered his servant, Go out quickly into the street and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame. The servant did this, yet there was still room! Then the master said, Go out into the roads and country lanes and make them come in so that my house will be full. I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet. Luke 14: 15-24

Practice your memory verse! You can find it right here in your GPS or in Psalm 19:14!

What is a parable?

Set four objects on your table, each representing a type of soil in the story. Point to each type as you take turns describing the soil and what happens to the seed that is with it in the story. Point to each one again as you describe what happens to Gods Word in each situation. What kind of soil does your family want to plant itself in? Commit to doing that.

Pray these words: Dear God, open our ears and minds. We want to hear your stories and have your words take root and grow in our hearts. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Pop some popcorn. Count the unpopped kernels and discuss with your family why some might not have popped. How do you feel when lots of kernels are unpopped? What does that say to you about this story from Jesus?

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
