This work 18 an attempt to eivea complete and systematic view
of the science of Protody in the Hindi Language- Hindi claims to
be the immediate offspring cf Sanskrit aud its modern represent
ative in the home of its highest ancient development, and by right

centuries ft recerved the highest patronage and encouragement,
and such great names as ‘Tulsidas, Surdas, Keshodes, Deo:

- teaches of its development, stand out pre-emsnent to challenge
the admiration of all posterity, thus while the dialects of Hind:
are diversified, careful cultivation has given them a refinement of
veroal combinations aud a subtlety of verbal fusions and forms
which render the collective material presented for the manipulation
of the literary craftsman or for the use of imaginative genius, unt,
ove and unrivalled in elegant plasticity This work explains more
than 100 technical terms and enunclates not les» than 400 construc
tional rules metrically illustrated by me
