Dear Joy, Re: Primary Talk Evaluation I understand from the email sent by Jenny Leyden on 02.10.

09 that the Primary Talk evaluation that was expected at the end of September will now not be completed until the end of October 2009. This news is extremely disappointing and frustrating for I CAN as we had anticipated receiving the results and being able to use them in recent high level discussions with potential funders and policy makers. The lack of evidence also has the potential to impact on the roll out of Primary Talk and our developing partnerships with Local Authorities and Speech and Language Therapy Services. In addition to this we are concerned that we are not delivering on our agreement with the funder of Primary Talk and that this has the potential to jeopardise our relationship with this major funder of our work. We had informed them of the extension to the timeline to September when the evaluation was not delivered as agreed in July and will need to now justify a further delay. We understand the difficulties experienced by the evaluation team, and that the scale of project has exceeded what was originally planned. However, extending the timeline to the end of September was agreed to accommodate these issues. The additional delay is now making it difficult for I CAN as we are yet to have any indication of what the research will say. I hope we can have reassurance that the revised timelines are confirmed and that you provide some headline results that we can begin to use in our discussions with future partners by 16th October 2009. We would also appreciate reassurance that the proposed timelines for the Secondary Talk project are achievable. I CAN have enjoyed working in partnership with you and look forward to receiving the completed report in the very near future.
