Goals .

New students will be prepared to meet with their academic advisor after successfully completing an online orientation course. The online orientation course will include various modules and assessments that will introduce university and departmental information including common terminology used on campus; resources available to students; and instructions for online applications important for student success at UVU. Instructional objectives 1. Log onto a computer to access the online orientation course 2. Successfully view the welcome message about navigating through the course 3. Successfully complete a module and assessment on the degrees offered within the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement department. 4. Successfully complete a module and assessment defining common terminology used at UVU 5. Successfully complete a module and assessment that introduces resources available to students attending UVU 6. Successfully complete a module and assessment that provides instructions and directions to access online applications important for student success at UVU Performance objectives 1. Log into a computer, either a personal computer or a computer on the UVU campus. Log into CANVAS to access the online orientation course. 2. After successfully accessing the online orientation course, view and pay attention to the video with the welcome message about how to navigate through the course. 3. After successfully viewing the video, begin the first module. Read and become familiar with the programs offered in the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Department as well as career opportunities associated with those programs. Successfully pass an assessment at the end of the module. 4. After passing the assessment from the first module, begin the second module. Read and become familiar with common terminology used at UVU. Successfully pass an assessment at the end of the module. 5. After passing the assessment from the second module, begin the third module. Read and become familiar with resources that are available to students while attending UVU. Successfully pass an assessment at the end of the module. 6. After passing the assessment from the third module, begin the fourth module. Read and become familiar with instructions and directions to access Wolverine Track and Registration Tools. Successfully pass an assessment at the end of the module.

7. Schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor

7. Contact the assigned academic advisor to schedule an appointment.

Subordinate objectives 1.1 Go to www.uvu.edu 1.2 Select the UVLink portal, and enter your UVID and password 1.3 Select the student tab for access to the course 1.4 Select the online advising course 2.1 Select and view the video.

Subordinate performance objectives 1.1 Gain access to a computer 1.2 Students will use their UVID and Password to login to UVLINK

1.4 Select the online advising course.

2.1 Click the play button to view the video which will instruct the students on how to navigate through the orientation. 3.1 Begin the first module and read through all of the information. Pay close attention to the information presented. 3.2 Take and successfully pass a five-question quiz (100%) at the end of the module to ensure an understanding of the programs offered and career opportunities available within the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Department. 4.1 After successfully passing the quiz in module one, move on to the second module in the online orientation course. 4.2 Understand and retain information regarding common terminology used at UVU including: associate in science degree, bachelor of science degree, matriculation, advanced standing, pre-requisite, corequisite, upper division, catalog year, etc. 4.3 Take and successfully pass a five-question quiz (100%) at the end of the module to ensure an understanding of the common terminology used at UVU.

4.2 Read through the material and become familiar with the common terminology used at UVU

5.1 Begin the third module

5.1 After successfully passing the quiz in module two, move on to the third module in the online orientation course. 5.2 Read through the information and learn how to access the resources that are available to students at UVU including: the Advisement Center, Student Health Services, Accessibility Services, Career Development Center, Math Lab, Writing Center, Campus Connection, etc.

5.2 Read through the information presented in the third module and become familiar with the resources that are available to students at UVU

5.3 Successfully complete an assessment at the end of the module

5.3 Take and successfully pass a five-question quiz at the end of the module to ensure knowledge has been acquired of the resources that are available to students at UVU. 6.1 After successfully passing the quiz in module three move on to the fourth module in the online orientation course. 6.2 Read through and retain information on how to locate Wolverine Track within UV Link; how to process a degree evaluation within Wolverine Track; how to process a what-if evaluation within Wolverine Track; how to identify graduation requirements within Wolverine Track; how to use the Planner feature within Wolverine Track; how to view the Registration Tutorial within UV Link; how to locate the Registration Tools within UV Link; how to Look Up Classes within UV Link; and how to Register for Classes within UV Link.

6.1 Begin the fourth module

6.2 Read through the information presented in the fourth module to gain insight and knowledge into instructions and directions to access online applications important for student success at UVU

6.3 Successfully complete an assessment at the end of the module

6.3 Take and successfully pass a ten-question quiz at the end of the module to ensure knowledge has been retained regarding the online applications that are necessary for student success at UVU. 7.1 After successfully passing the quiz in module four, move on to the fifth module in the online orientation course. 7.2 Click the play button to view the video congratulating the students that made it to that point in the orientation. The video will also provide instruction on printing out the certification of completion as well as scheduling an appointment to meet with their advisor.

7.1 Begin the fifth module

7.2 Select and view the video

7.3 Print off Certification of Completion 7.4 Schedule an appointment with the assigned academic advisor

7.3 Click on the certificate of completion and print.

7.4 Call the Advisement Center to schedule an appointment for a face-to-face meeting with the advisor of the assigned major.
