Helvetica Name of documentary, author/producer, and year.

Helvetica is a documentary directed by Gary Hustwit in 2007 about the helvetica typeface, how it came into existence and it's use changed the graphic design culture of the modern world. Is it "informational" or "promotional"? support your argument. The video is clearly more informational and gives a good understanding of how the type face was created and and how its use spread since it was such a neutral type face. Although, due to the great success of the type face, the documentary may seem to be promotional but it does not intended to be so. Who is the primary audience it aimed at? The documentary does not have a specic audience as such and anyone who has worked with fonts on their computer can relate to it. However, graphics designers will denitely nd it interesting. What is the relevance of it to specic areas/topics of our course? The lm gives an insight about the spacing, foreground and background while designing the font and how even a typeface can convey meaning. This is an important aspect to consider while designing. According to the lm, how does type affect our lives? Typefaces improve legibility of the text and affect how we interpret the content. Will you use Helvetica for your future graphic projects? (optional) Helvetica and Helvetica Neue have always been one of my favorite fonts and have been used in all of my reports. I love using helvetica Neue Ultralight font.
