Title : IaaS & Cloud Service Management Date: Jan 31, 2012 Time: 5:30 6:30 PM

Abstract : An emerging IT delivery modelcloud computingcan significantly reduce IT costs & complexities while improving workload optimization and service delivery. Businesses are looking to cloud computing to foster rapid innovation and decision making, for the agility needed to respond quickly in today's highly competitive environment, to reduce capital and operational costs, and an environment that scales easily to effectively meet customer needs. These benefits comes with new complexities that must be properly managed. This includes Rapid growth of virtualized resources across multiple environments, their relationship to underlying physical infrastructure as well as their Health monitoring and problem determination. This session will provide you an introduction to Cloud Computing and the various cloud delivery and deployment models. You will learn how IBM Service Management helps you manage the complexities of cloud computing by delivering visibility, control and automation across your dynamic, virtualized environment. Finally the session also provides an overview of IBM Service Delivery Manager that will help you to Automate requesting, deployment, monitoring and management of cloud computing services Speaker Bio: Sujith R Pillai is an Associate IT Architect Infrastructure, at IBM India Software Labs (ISL) IT Operations. Sujith has over 10 years of experience as IT Architect/Specialist. He is leading the Technical Review Board and Cloud solution architecture at IBM ISL IT Operations. He is experienced in creating Infrastructure Architecture, Operating System Administration, Project Management, Solution Design and component level repairing. The versatility in the technologies on which he worked involves, ClearCase Administration and TSM Administration. Sujith currently works as the Lead Architect for Cloud deployments at ISL Operations. He is a contributing member in IBM's Cloud Computing Reference Architecture

Title: Platform as a Service (PaaS) Date: Feb 1, 2012 Time: 5:30 6:30 pm
Abstract: Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a core layer of cloud computing architecture and it is a fast-growing cloud computing market. PaaS is application infrastructure (middleware) functionality offered as a cloud service. Unlike software as a service (SaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) cloud services, which are well established, many PaaS offerings are still emerging. In this session we will be discussing about IBM Workload Deployer, which enable to host middlware and database platform as a service. IBM Workload Deployer V3.0, previously known as IBM WebSphere Cloudburst Appliance, dispenses and manages IBM middleware to virtualized servers and private cloud computing environments. There are two styles of patterns managed by Workload Deployer: "Topology patterns," which are customizable patterns of IBM middleware packaged as "Hypervisor Edition" images. This familiar class of pattern has been available since WebSphere CloudBurst V1.0, but has become more dynamic in Workload Deployer V3.0. When IBM WebSphere Application Server Hypervisor Edition Intelligent Management Pack is enabled in a deployed environment, users may enable automated elasticity to allow patterns to grow and shrink without manual input. "Workload patterns," which contain all IT components needed to run a certain type of workload. This type of pattern is less customizable, but is designed to meet the needs of common use cases with very little modification. As such, workload patterns offer a much more cost-effective way of deploying and managing suitable applications. IBM Workload Deployer delivers value in several ways by helping to: 1. Lower costs. 2. Increase agility and reduce time to value. 3. Increase repeatability and reduce costly errors by allowing you to customize environments once, capture them, and redeploy them at the click of a button. 4. Provide a physically secure hardware appliance. 5. Manage users and groups and their access. IBM Workload Deployer is targeted for on-premise production, staging, development, and test environments, and can also serve as the foundation for hosted software-as-a-service environments. Speaker Bio: Venugopala Channarayappa has completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science) from National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal (formerly Karnataka National Engineering College). Joined IBM in the year 2004 as Software Engineer from campus hire. He has 3 years of experience in IBM Cloud Computing Technology and have contributions to some of IBM Cloud offerings and Solutions, Was part of cloud customer implementation and proof of concepts. Currently he is working as "Cloud Solution Architect" at IBM India Software Lab. His primary job is to implement first of kind cloud solutions.

Topic: Addressing Cloud SecurityThe Grand Challenge Date: Feb 2, 2012 Time: 5:30 pm 6:30 pm
Abstract: As with most new technology paradigms, security concerns surrounding cloud computing have become the most widely talked about inhibitor of widespread usage. To gain the trust of organizations, cloud services must deliver security and privacy expectations that meet or exceed what is available in traditional IT environments. In a cloud environment, access expands, responsibilities change, control shifts, and the speed of provisioning resources and applications increases - greatly affecting all aspects of IT security. In addition to the usual challenges of developing secure IT systems, cloud computing presents an added level of risks and security concerns. The externalized aspect of cloud makes it harder to maintain data integrity and privacy, support data and service availability, and demonstrate compliance. Different models of cloud computing have various ways of exposing their underlying infrastructure to the user. This influences the degree of direct control over the management of the computing infrastructure and the distribution of responsibilities for managing its security. So although the benefits of cloud computing are clear, so is the need to develop proper security for cloud implementations. This session looks at the unique challenges with Cloud Security and map the key security aspects for different customer adoption patterns. The session will provide the IBM viewpoint of Cloud Security and help you learn how to use IBM Security Framework to address the key security challenges in the cloud namely related to Security governance, risk management and compliance People and Identity Data and information Application and process Network, server and endpoint Speaker Bio: Sreekanth Iyer is a Senior IT Architect in the IBM Security Solutions (CTO) team and focuses on cloud security. He has led several client solutions for Telco, Electronics, E&U, Govt, BPO & Banking industries across key areas including Cloud Computing, SOA, and business process management. He is an IBM/Open Group Master Certified Architect and the chair of the Bangalore chapter of Association of Enterprise Architects. He has contributed to multiple Open Group publications including Who is using Cloud - A Buyer's Perspective, Cloud Computing for Business - the Open Group Guide. He is certified in SOA, Cloud & ITIL V3 Foundation.
