introduction:-

The Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD) is widely used for analysing time-varying signals and systems. It has, in recent years, found applications in diverse fields such as radar, sonar, speech and biomedical analysis [I]. The increasing number of applications of the WVD has precipitated a number of algorithms [2-71 for computing the discrete-time WVD in real time, known as the pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution (PWVD). Since the computation and presentation of PWVD nearly always requires a computer or special purpose hardware, a fast algorithm for computing the PWVD is an active research area. In this paper, we derive a fast algorithm for computing the PWVD using the discrete Hartley (DHT) as a basic building block. The WVD of a real signal, x(t), is defined as:-

WVD,(t,w) = i; z (t f -I )z * (t - -5 )e xp(-jw.r)d.r
where, z(t) is the analytic signal associated with x(t) and is defined as

z(t) = x(t) + j H [ z ( t )
Here, H[x(t)] represents the Hilbert transform of x(t). In the case of real-time applications, eqn. 1 is implemented as a pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution (PWVD) which is given by PWVD, (~, = 2 fn(me)xp ( - j zwm)
