Discussion Question Week Three DQ 2

Due Week 3 Day 4 (Friday)

Describe the properties of normal distribution. Explain why there are an infinite number of normal distributions. Why do you want to assume that your sample data represent a population distribution? Normal distribution is patterns of distribution sets of data that follow a bell shaped curve and sometimes also defined as a Gaussian distribution (named after the mathematician, Carl Friedrich Gauss). This so-called bell shape curve pertains to several various properties: y y The curve is concentrated inside the center with each side decreasing The curve is symmetric

What this entails is the probability of deviations from the mean which is comparable from both directions. Statistics help to create an inference about population studies based on smaller portions representing certain samples of the studied population. Actually if the data represented was a different population than the one of interest it would be impossible to develop correct results. It would be very helpful to make models with numerical calculations with the data that follows known distributions.
