Announcing: This Process Control Workshop is to be held at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington on March 28-29, 2012. Class hours will be from 8 am to 5 pm, Wednesday and Thursday. Sponsored by: West Washington Region of PNCWA, the PNCWA West Washington Water Quality Lab Analyst
Section and Peninsula College.
Instructors: Tom Chapman and Rick Kelley, Brown and Caldwell. Purpose: To provide wastewater treatment process control and laboratory training through classroom instruction and hands-on experience with the principles of the anaerobic digestion, solids dewatering, and thickening processes, Students will perform jar testing, Volatile Acids / Alkalinity testing and troubleshooting of the anaerobic digestion process. Students will become well-versed in the anaerobic microbiology, process control variables, new options in process control, defining the elements of effective digestion, explaining the causes of digester foaming, methods of digester testing, interpreting lab results, troubleshooting the thickening and dewatering process, and more. Opportunities: Upon satisfactory completion of the Laboratory Training Workshop each student will receive 1 credit
hour (this equates to 1.6 CEUs) from Peninsula College. Participants must fill out a student enrollment form that will be handed out at the beginning of the class. Students are encouraged to bring or ship samples of their sludge to the Port Angeles WWTP, 1509 East Columbia Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362 (insure they are kept cool).
