APPENDIX-I
PLAN OF EXAMINATION
1. The combined competitive examination
comprises following successive stages:
(i) State Service Preliminary Examina-
tion for selection of candidates for Main Exami-
nation, and
(ii) State Services Main Examination
and Interview for selection of candidates for
the various categories of services and post.
2. (a) Preliminary examination will con-
sist of one paper of objective type (multiple choice
questions of General Studies & mental ability,
and carry a maximum of 300 marks.
(b) This Examination is meant to serve
as a screening test only and the marks obtained in
the Preliminary Examination by the Candidates
who are declared qualified for admission to the
Main Examination will not be counted for deter-
mining their final order of merit.
(c)

The question paper of Preliminary


Exam will be of the objective type (multiple choice
question). Each question will have four probable
answers grouped under A,B,C and D of which
only one will be the correct/nearly correct an-
swer. The candidate is required to record in the
answer book, only A,B,C or D as may be ad-
judged by him to be the correct/nearly correct
answer.
(d)

Paper will carry 150 questions


each carrying 2 marks and will be of 2 hrs.
duration.
(e) The details of the syllabi for pre-
liminary is indicated in Appendix-II
(f) Question paper will be in Hindi
& English.
(g)

Candidates are required to ob-


tain at least 33% marks in each paper of the Pre-
liminary Examination. In the case of candidates
belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe /
OBC the qualifying marks would be only 23%.
3. The number of candidates to be admitted
to the Main Examination will be about fifteen times
the total number of vacancies to be filled in the
various categories of Service and posts as indi-
cated in the advertisement. Only those candidates
who are declared by the Commission to have
qualified in preliminary examination under a par-
ticular result will be eligible for admission to the
Main Examination.
4. Main Examination:
(a)

Main Examination- will consist of


four question papers as given below:-
(1) Compulsory Paper

The question papers for the ex-

duration.

Hindi and English. Question papers in engineer-
ing subjects will be only in English
(g) Details of Syllabi for compulsory
and optional subjects are set out in Appendix-
III
(h) Candidates are required to obtain at

amination . In the case of candidates belonging
to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe / OBC the
qualifying marks would be only 23% .

for the Interview test will be about three
times the total number of vacancies, as
indicated in the advertisement. Only those
candidates who are declared by the Com-
mission to have qualified in Main exami-
nation will be eligible for Interview.
6. Interview - The interview will carry
150 marks (with no qualifying Minimum marks)
