LESSON PLAN

Strengthening students vocabulary and writing skills Aim: to provide a space for students to reinforce their vocabulary acquisition process and develop better writing skills and also to grow a sense of acculturation. Level: advanced Interaction: student-teacher, student-student Technology: blog Rationale: Blogs are good for this kind of tasks to strength the vocabulary previously seen in class by asking students to make reading reports or essays about different topics leading to the students acculturation, knowing more about their own culture and dealing with new ones. Procedure: 1. Each student is supposed to have previous knowledge in the use of a blog. 2. Teacher will upload to the blog extra text materials weekly, related to the topic seen in class. The texts may vary: poems, historical chronicles, tales, essays, letters, etc. 3. Teacher will provide the link to students to access the blog. 4. Each student will have to access to the blog weekly to read the new material and do the required tasks. 5. All the tasks are related to improve writing skills, so students will have to choose between writing a report or an essay about the text that corresponds to the ongoing week. 6. Students will have to upload their report or essay to their own blogs and then post their link on the teachers blog. 7. Other helpful links will be uploaded in the blog by the teacher: Spanish, French and English dictionaries, Thesaurus, e-books, APA guidelines, videos, etc. 8. Once each student has completed the task, will have to visit other classmates blogs to give feedback. 9. Students reports or essays will be commented by the whole class and the teacher the next session.
