Dosage: 500 mg/tab

Frequency: BID ( 8am, 6pm)

Actions: Inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase thus preventing replication in susceptible bacteria.

Indications: Infections of the resp. tract, middle ear, sinuses, eyes, kidneys, urinary tract infection, genital organs, abdomen, skin & soft tissues, bones & joints; septicemia, infections in patients with reduced host defense & selective intestinal decontamination in immunosuppressed patients. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other quinolones. Children, adolescents, pregnancy & lactation.

Common: >Observe the 10 rights in giving medication Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, rash >Assess patient for previous sensitivity reaction Uncommon: Anorexia, >Assess patient for any signs and symptoms headache, of infection before & during treatment dizziness, fever, GI and >Assess for adverse reactions abdominal pain, flatulence, >Assess patient& familys knowledge of confusion, drug therapy vertigo >Monitor patient and note presence of rash >Stop giving the drug and call the physician if patient experiences signs or symptoms of hypersensitivity reaction ( rash, hives, or other skin reactions) >Raise side rails of bed to avoid falls and accidents when dizziness occurs
