The Dark Side of NAZI Germany


Secret Police. 250, 000 members by 1939. Had to prove they had no Jewish relations. Detained and usually killed any critic of the NAZI party.

Article 1: Only those with German Blood could be German citizens. 3 grandparents and both parents must be pure German. Article 2: Jews and Germans cannot marry. All mixed marriages before law was passed are cancelled.

Additions forbade jews from hiring German workers, going to public places, and required identification.

How could it happen?


German and Jewish citizens of Germany had been neighbors, business partners, friends. Some, many even married and had families.

How do you think Hitler was able to turn regular people into bystanders who stood by even if they did not share his hatred?
