Neuburger English 102 15 February 2012 Jack Kevorkian A Case of Assisted Suicide Jack Kevorkians A Case of Assisted Suicide tells the story of a woman who hires Kevorkian to help end her life due to illness. After reading the story only one can conclude that Kevorkian was a self-less person, who thought of others before himself. In the essay, Kevorkian thought about businesses or homeowners who would be degraded for letting him perform his plans. Kevorkian states, Many owners, proprietors, and landlords were quiet sympathetic but fearful and envisioned the negative public reaction that could seriously damage and even destroy their business enterprises (page 437.) People approved while others disapproved of Kevorkians mission, but Kevorkian did not care. He wants to help people, and with their consent on paper and in video, they allow him to do so. Janet consents to Kevorkian helping her commit suicide and is happy with her decision. She is so happy the decision she makes that at the end of the essay Janet says; Thank you, Thank you (page 441) and Kevorkian replies Have a nice trip (page 441). Kevorkian is a self-less person, who spent years in prison for his actions without any regrets.
