It is my extreme pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Barbara Wylie of Ivy Tech. I have had the honor of working with Barbara in my position as a Community School Coordinator in Indianapolis Public Schools. Barbara is a professional person of the highest quality. She is an excellent example for your students. She is a valued partner in my community development efforts. We have created an excellent program that serves both Ivy Tech Students and IPS students through service learning. Barbara understands the challenges that are particular to inner city schools and inspires her students to serve as they learn to become teachers. She is a steadfast supporter of our schools. She has fostered the Ivy Tech Student Association that works to support our parent engagement activities in the Martindale Brightwood Alliance for Educational Success. The MBAES is a full service community school initiative that partners IPS 51, IPS 56 and IPS 69 with IUPUI. The students have supported us through fundraising efforts and numerous volunteer hours. Barbara is creative, resourceful and a dynamic influence on our community school efforts. She often provides inventive strategies and guidance to me and our community council of partners. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve our students with her.
