LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

My first experience in leading an organization started when I was in junior high school. I was the leader of the class. Maybe people will think that it was a simple and common thing, but then I realize how hard it is when I had to bear all the responsibility of a leader by my own self. There were so many memories since I had become a class leader, not only the great one but also the unpleasant one. One thing that I won t forget was when I had to finish a quarrel between two groups which were trying to be a dominant in the class. That time, I was position myself as a mediator. With a lot of efforts, I tried my best to make a mediation team. I indicate some of my friends which able to be a mediator. I made some strategic steps to solve the conflict and get back the comfort condition for all of us. In senior high school, I had a new experience in leadership. I was pointed to be a chairman of a high school basketball competition in my residence. That would be my first experience to be a chairman which the event spent a quite long preparation. So, there I was, arranged some strategic plans to succeed that event. I made 3 big steps, which are preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Now, I m taking hold of Veterinary Medicine Student Association in Brawijaya University or called Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) as a

president. Veterinary Medicine of Brawijaya University is the sixth veterinary medicine science school in Indonesia and established for the first time in 2008. This program equals with faculty level, therefore it is independently operated such as a faculty. Nowadays, BEM is the highest student organization in veterinary medicine level. How hugely and lofty the mandate that I should carry out because I have to move this responsibility forward with support from all veterinary medicine academic to rise civilization which then forms a leader and veterinary who can contribute for better Indonesian future.

A leader is everyone s hope. A leader is hoped to carry everyone else in a vision to a better direction. Based from my leadership experience until now, there are so many things to be noticed to create our vision into a better reality, but there is an attention that really important to be paid that a leader should have a good and lofty personality first before he or she urges somebody else to be a better person. Last but not least, a leader is an example for them whom he or she leads.
