AS is a Indian Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC and it is held every year.

The candidates are selected through 3 stages for becoming a IAS and they are: Preliminary exam. Main exam. Interview. Eligibility:

The candidates must be a citizen of India. The candidates must have a age limit of 21-30 years. For SC/ST -35 For OBC-33 For Ex-service men it is 5 years exception. The candidates must have a degree from recognized university.

Pattern for Preliminary exam: Paper I: Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian National Movement Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World. Indian Polity and Governance Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc. General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization General Science. Paper II: Comprehension

Interpersonal skills including communication skills; Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy, Data interpretation English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level). Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level Pattern for Main exam: The Main exam consists of two optional papers each carrying 300 marks and they are General studies(300 marks) and Essay(200 marks) and other paper consists of Indian language and general English.
