Project Description : The motivation for this project comes from the extensive work going in an organization. The focus has shifted more on the desktop searches with Microsoft aiming to bring on a powerful desktop search. With the ever increasing storage space and increase in number of files a search mechanism becomes important which can search data as fast as possible but with minimum overhead in a LAN. FEATURES: It should search for files in only shared logins (like guest) and logins with whom the passwords are available (logins registered to be allowed to search). A periodic notifier which should update a user about the availability of a file on the network (Client Specific). A mechanism to find out dead links (files which have moved). * Indexes can be maintained centrally or in a distributed manner.
