Millions of reasons to support a special Lottery

The proceeds from the Lottery are used to provide interestfree loans to Pembrokeshire businesses that are creating jobs in the county. Since 1994, a staggering 4 million has been lent out to more than 300 businesses, creating nearly 1,500 jobs, with over 2million awarded in prize money too!
THE Pembrokeshire Lottery exists to raise funds to create jobs in the county. The brainchild of Danny Fellows OBE, The Investing in Pembrokeshire Society was established in November 1993, one whole year ahead of the National Lottery. Offering prize money of 2,000 every week to a lucky player, whilst simultaneously promoting long-term employment in Pembrokeshire, the scheme soon took off. Businesses assisted vary from sole traders to limited companies, involved in sectors from tourism to heavy engineering, retail to agricultural diversification, marine engineering to food production and processing. The first loan was to Phoenix Press in Goodwick in 1994, to purchase new equipment. In August 2009, a loan to Celtic Foods in Pembroke Dock to start a new business employing 11 people saw Pembrokeshire Lottery break the 3million barrier. Two and a half years later, in February 2012, Providence Training Ltds loan to launch its new online qualifications database saw the Lottery loan out its four millionth pound. Director of Providence Training, David Warrell said: Launching the Qualpas Database from our offices in Neyland, we will be creating six new jobs and we would like to thank Pembrokeshire Lottery for their support. Everyone who has contributed to the loan fund over the years has created a valuable funding resource for Pembrokeshire Businesses thats not available in other areas. Its an excellent facility and I would encourage people to support where they can. Bob Clarke, company secretary and licence holder of Pembrokeshire Lotter, said: I am delighted that the Lottery has achieved these milestones and would like to thank all of the employers in Pembrokeshire who offer Lottery salary deductions to their staff. Their support over the years has been unwavering and we are very grateful for their help As the number of players grew then the weekly prize fund could be increased to 2,500 and now there is a weekly live draw at 1.30pm every

Six lucky players receive a call each week from the Lottery office in Milford Haven, one 2,000 winner and five 100 winners. The winners put their prize money to a great variety of uses but home improvements and holidays are the favourites. Pembrokeshire Lottery is a cashless lottery so there are no tickets to buy and no numbers to choose. Payment for entries is made by standing order or cheque and every player is allocated a unique number that they keep for every draw. Entry is not restricted to local residents; many ex-pats participate as well as regular visitors to Pembrokeshire, who wish to put something back into the county they love.
