BC35D Presentation Outline

Rules of engagement Students are to form their groups and inform Dr Roye (in writing) of the topic they have chosen. This document must have the name ID# and signature of each student in the group. Also indicate which day they would like to make their presentation. On the day of the presentation the group leader must present in writing the contribution of (or lack of contribution of) each member. This document must be signed by each member of the group. Each member of the group must participate in the preparation of the presentation and on the day of the presentation.

Structure of the presentations Each presentation will be 15 minutes. The audience (lecturers, teaching assistants, demonstrators and students) will have 5 minutes to ask question of the presenters. If there are any questions please contact Dr. Marcia Roye, the course coordinator for BC35D or Dr. Cheryl Stewart, Research Assistant to Dr. Roye. All presentations must be emailed to Dr. Roye on the day of the presentation at marciaroye@gmail.com All presentations will be posted on OurVLE.

Choose a gene therapy treatment. 1. Outline the disease it is meant to treat 2. Outline the proposed research methodology that would be used to generate the treatment 3. What, if any, are the present treatment options for this disease? 4. How could the proposed gene therapy treatment improve the quality of life for these patients? 5. Outline the ethical considerations (if any) related to this treatment 6. What is preventing this treatment from being released for public use? 7. What is the result of the latest experimental trials for this treatment?
