Low carbon steel 1. Carbon; making it malleable and ductile, but it cannot be hardened by heat treatment. 2.

When strength is not a major concern, low-carbon steels are good choices because they are easy to handle (draw, bend, punch, swage, etc.) and fairly inexpensive. Surface hardness can be improved by a process called carburizing which involves heating the alloys in a carbon-rich atmosphere. 3. Contains less carbon than other steels and are inherently easier to cold-form due to their soft and ductile nature. Process involve 1. They are characterized by shaping the work piece at a temperature below its recrystallization temperature, usually at the ambient temperature. Cold forming techniques are usually classified into four major groups: squeezing, bending, drawing, and shearing. Applications include the heading of bolts and cap screws and the finishing of cold rolled steel.

*maybe for the test we can take cold working involve rolling process because its easy since we have their machine. Other process that can be considered such Rolling, Swaging, Extrusion, Forging, Sizing, Riveting, Staking, Coining, Peening, Burnishing, Hubbing, Thread rolling. U can find out about this process. Some look easy but some looks very difficult.

* since we do rolling process why not we use bending and shearing test to test the hardness and brittleness since it look more easy and we just need to identify the properties base on this test. Roll bending and roll slitting. This just my opinions will study further bout other process. ok pang.
