We are Casimir Alyea, Andrew Mistry, and Nick and Fred Laliberte, the restaurateurs behind 164 Ossington Ave. Having received an objection to out liquor license application, we realize that it would be helpful for us to explain our intentions and objectives to you, our new neighbours. We hear you loud and clear, and we'd like to address your concerns. In this package, we include information about Hawker Bar — history, biography, menu, wine list, and floor plan. We understand your worries about this new addition to Ossington Ave, and we want to work in harmony with the preexisting community because we feel we have something to contribute. ‘We ask that you review this package and we hope you will accept our invitation to attend an open house this Sunday between noon and three at Hawker Bar. Hawker Bar is a boutique restaurant specializing in Singapore street food with a North American twist: It’s inspired by the Hawker stalls of Singapore where the street food originates. It is a eatchy name that incorporates the history of the food and the traditional way it’s served. We'll offer takeout — at a discount to regular menu prices — and we intend to offer catering services as well. We are considering a ‘weekend brunch service depending on feedback and interest from our guests. Hawker Bar's kitchen is currently being installed at a cost of approximately $50,000. Hawker Bar’s liquor license application is for thirty people. Of those thirty people, about five will be staff, leaving us with no more than 25 patrons at full capacity. Hawker Bar will be an intimate and unique dining experience. Who Are We? We are brothers and best friends. In 2009, we opened our first restaurant, Poutini’s. Since then, our baby has become a valued part of the West Queen West community. We've learned from our shared experiences and we're excited to embark on a new journey in hospitality together. In 2004, we travelled through Australia together. During that ten-month-long adventure we discovered Singapore strect food, which is a trend in Australia, Ever since our return to Canada, we've sought somewhere — anywhere! — that offers those same delicious, unique dishes. Now, we've found an answer: we're going to create it ourselves. Our chef, Alec Martin, hails from Australia and has a deep passion for Singaporean cuisine. When we collaborated with him on a laksa noodle soup, we knew we had something special that culturally savvy Torontonians would embrace. We live locally — on Massey Street, Queen West and Ossington/Dundas. We love our vibrant communities. We love food, wine and restaurant culture, And we know that Hawker Bar will bring something fresh and exciting to West Toronto, Please review the menu, wine list, and floor plan included in this package. Given this information, we hope we can turn your objection to our application into consent and we hope that you will enjoy Havwker Bar as a local destination. To this end, we have also included a consent letter for your signature and sincerely hope you will bring it to the open house of drop it in our mailbox at 164 Ossington Ave. We look forward to seeing you soon.
