Title: Characteristic of image form by convex lens and concave lens.

Aim: To study the characteristics of images form by a convex lens and concave lens. Hypothesis: A convex lens can form an image on a screen and the image is inverted and smaller than the object, but a concave lens does not form any image on the screen. Variables: i) ii) iii) Constant: distance of the object. Manipulated: type of lens. Responding: characteristic of image form.

Materials: convex lens, concave lens, screen, meter ruler, lens holder. Lukis Rajah Procedure: 1. Prepare the apparatus as show in figure 1. 2. Adjust the screen until a sharp image of the object outside the window falls on the screen. 3. Record the observation. 4. Repeat the activity above with a concave lens. Observation: Characteristic of image Formation of image on screen Size of image Condition of image Convex lens Concave lens

Analysis: 1. The image form by a convex lens is ___ _____, ___ _, and _ __. 2. The image form by a concave lens is __ ________, _ _____, and _____ ______. Conclusion: 1. The image form by convex lens are real, diminished, and inverted while image form by concave lens are virtual, diminished and upright. 2. The hypothesis is accepted.
